Stephanie Reiser, along with her partner Danielle, moved from New Jersey four years ago, primarily to Homestead, on eighteen acres at the foothills of the Maine Highlands, with 11 chickens and two dairy goats. Homestead? Why? and why Maine? The reasons are the topics she will cover in her blog, Homesteading Now, and she believes they might astound you.

Stephanie has hobby-gardened all her life starting at age twelve when she took popcorn seeds and planted them in an otherwise well-groomed front lawn,where, to her delight and her parents’ chagrin, her first garden was born. She has been gardening in one form or another ever since. Now she and her partner are growing and storing their own food and creating living space infra-structure, as if their lives, if not the future of the planet, hinges on it. During the course of this blog she will write about what skills they have learned, and offer advice to others about homesteading.
